Welo opals are among the most fascinating gemstones: their play of color spans the entire rainbow spectrum, from luminous green and blue to orange and fiery red. Typical features include unique patterns like honeycomb, pinfire, or rainbow prisms. As hydrophane opals, they can absorb water – a natural, completely reversible effect. Compared to Australian opals, Ethiopian opals are surprisingly affordable, with equally spectacular play of color and very good stability.
